Time Lapse: A poem

why does the scent of peaches bring me back to when you first said you loved me why does the image of jellyfish remind me of when you first placed your hand in mine why does the sound of fireworks remind me of when you first kissed my fiery lips why does the feel of fabric bring me back to when you held me in your lengthy arms why does the scent of roses remind me of when you first took me around the galaxy in your rusty old SUV why does the image of rain bring me back to when we danced in it why does the sound of car horns remind me of when you took me on a surprise brunch in the heart of the city why does the feel of bed sheets remind me of when we stayed overnight at an overly expensive hotel why does the scent of candle smoke bring me back to when i turned another year older in your view why does the sound of police sirens remind me of when i get frightened and you hold my head in your chest why does the feel of skin remind me of glorious nights spent humming our favourite songs why does the scent of coffee bring me back to when we bought our very own loft in the city why does the sound of laughter remind me of every day spent with you why does the feel of books bring me back to when we first locked eyes why does the taste of strawberries bring me back to when i accomplished my life goal with your humble assistance why does the sound of a champagne bottle popping bring me back to when you uttered those 4 words why does the image of daisies remind me of the bouquet you got me when i walked down that aisle why does the image of us together bring me back to all these magnificent memories because i love you & so does our daughter
