Love Yourself

Initially part of my school art project, this turned into a series trying to promote self love, self care and self romanticization!

To highlight the body positive element, I had my friends wear white clothing and underwear to show them stripped down and bare without being fully nude (my school isn't that liberal).

The setting of the bath linked to the fact that self care can be anything from eating the way you want, taking a bath or shower, doing exercise or sleeping however much you need! It doesn't have to be anything big, just the little things that make you happy. The romanticization was portrayed through the pink bath water, the flowers and the smiling faces that appear content and happy with themselves!

The flowers were also used to display a link with nature, the blossom of the flower and of the human body. They were inspired by a lot of different things; the song "i" by Kendrick Lamar, Gustav Klimt's golden flowery paintings, Frida Kahlo's self portraits, Maisie Cousins' photography and the painting Ophelia by John Everett Millais.
