4 Movies To Get Psyched About This Month

If you're into zombies, Jane Austen, James Franco, magic and ultimate 'badass-ness' then keep reading!

With 2015 long gone, we look ahead to the future. Thankfully, that future is filled with a myriad of movies to be psyched about! There seems to be something for just about everybody. Let’s take a look at what is to come, shall we?

For the cinephile/mystery lover: Hail, Caesar!

Set in 50’s era Hollywood, the story follows a studio “fixer” on a quest to find a missing star whilst dodging the ravenous press, causing hilarity to ensue. Judging from its trailer, the movie captures the elegance and magic that Hollywood connotes. The film also holds claim to a star-studded roster, from George Clooney, Scarlett Johansson, and Channing Tatum. From the sets to the costumes, this movie screams aesthetics. Coming to theaters in February, Hail,Caesar! explores the lost world of Old Hollywood.

For the literary buff / post-apocalyptic aficionado: Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

If you’re like me, you’ve probably seen every version of Pride and Prejudice a million times. And probably lose all of your cool when Darcy admits his love for Elizabeth. Well, maybe it’s time to kick it up a notch. Based on the popular novel, this adaptation of the classic romance is set in a universe where the deceased don’t stay that way, which means an equal amount of cutesy courtship moments as well as some intense fighting scenes. Plus all the women in the cast look like they are totally ready to kick some undead butt, which is always a plus. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies looks to cater to both fans of Austen and The Walking Dead. [Editor's note: Lily James is so awesome!]

For the nerd in all of us: Deadpool

It’s about time everyone’s favourite anti-hero gets his own movie. Marvel’s Deadpool is honestly one of the most refreshing characters with his sarcasm, dark humour, and ability to break the fourth wall. Ryan Reynolds, who is no stranger to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (Green Lantern, anyone?), delivers the story of Wade Wilson, who decides to become an assassin after gaining the ability to rapidly heal through an experiment. The comedy is like no other superhero movie, as it is self-aware and is full of sarcasm and wit. In the trailer, Wilson says to make sure they don’t “make the supersuit green”, referring to Reynolds’ time spent as the Green Lantern. Jokes (literally) aside, the fight sequences also look incredibly well choreographed so that’s exciting. For our younger viewers, however, proceed with caution, as the film has some mature content.

For those who know the closer you look, the less you see: Now You See Me 2

The sequel to the captivating heist film, the plot follows the return of magic act / robbers The Four Horsemen as they aim to reveal injustice in the world. With an all-star cast consisting of Jesse Eisenberg, Lizzy Caplan, and Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter doing muggle magic?), this movie looks to be exciting, mind-bending and a nonstop thrill ride. Plus Dave Franco is in that movie, and (as my best friend would say) Dave Franco is always a good reason to watch something. Fans loving the plot from the first movie, are eager to see what else is in store for the Four Horsemen.
