The Power of Words

The power of words is often underestimated.
Words have the power to break you down or build you up. Words shape the way we perceive the world, including ourselves.
I’ve always been that pessimistic person who tells herself:
“I will never be a successful writer.”
“I can’t do that.”
“I’m not good enough for that job position.”
These words stopped me from trying new things. Before I even tried I’d already set myself up for failure. I noticed that I was using these negative words. I decided to change them.
I began to notice a difference in my attitude and thought process when I stopped being so negative. I became more determined when I changed “I can’t” to “I will”. I became more motivated when I replaced “I’m not enough” with “I am enough”. I used these words repeatedly. Over time, I began to believe them. I had a more positive outlook on life and gained the confidence to pursue my dreams. These phrases guided me to become the woman I am today. It’s amazing how you become the words you use.
It’s time to pay attention to the phrases you are using on your everyday life. Negative words limit your potential. Switch up your daily vocabulary! Replace those hurtful words with ones that build you a positive frame of mind. Your words shape your reality.
I found a quote that fits perfectly with this topic: “If you want to hear beautiful replies, speak beautiful words”- Imam Ali. What you say will eventually come back to you. Remember, you are in control of your life. Changing your vocabulary is one of the first steps to becoming the person you want to be. Step out into the world and inspire others through your words.
