How does one write about her experience listening to the voice of an angel and watching the mysterious yet beautiful Lana Del Rey perform? Let me take a deep breath and start from the beginning.

(I’ll skip through the whole “getting ready” part since you can read pretty much everything I did in Meliss’ beauty article. If you haven’t read that yet, what are you doing here? Go now! I’ll be here when you get back).

Now if I’m being completely honest, I thought that I was ready for this concert. You’d think I would’ve had enough time to emotionally and physically prepare considering I bought my tickets months in advance...but no, I don’t think I ever would’ve been emotionally ready for this. Standing in line with my friend, sister, and cousin at the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre felt like the longest line I’ve ever had to endure. Now this is the sad part so brace yourself. When we got to the front of the line, security told me I couldn’t keep my camera with me, essentially ruining any chance for me to get some good photos, so please bare with me while going through my iPhone 4s quality photos.

After checking my camera in with guest services, we found the best available spot on the lawn. Now you’re probably thinking “You sat allllll the way in the lawn? That’s horrible!” But trust me when I say that the lawn is the place to be, but then again maybe I’m just saying that cause I didn’t have GA tickets. Either way, I was near the front of the lawn, surrounded by people that just wanted to have a good time so I was having a pretty good time. Everyone was laying on their blankets and towels with their shoes off, talking and laughing, without a care in the world.

And in case you guys are wondering if tumblr people are real... yes they are. They exist and there are so many of them. I hope you know what I mean by this; everywhere I turned I saw pastel coloured hair, jean skirts, flower head bands, John Lennon inspired sunnies, fringe, and flash tattoos. It’s like every single blog you’ve ever come across was blown onto a field to be together for one night. It just felt good knowing that the people around me probably wouldn’t judge me for knowing the “Ride” intro, word for word.

Obviously, much of my time before the concert was spent people watching: one of my favourite hobbies, but I should move on or else I could talk about the crowd for hours.

So, the sun was setting, the wind was blowing and finally, at 9:00 Lana walked onto the stage in her white dress (you all know which one I’m talking about) singing “Cruel World” and in that moment, the world was anything but cruel. Everyone on the lawn jumped up off their blankets with their beers and cigarettes in hand and sang along, feeling the music in every muscle in their body. It’s like we were all in a trance.

As her voice kept pulling us deeper and deeper, all I could think was that I wanted to be in that trance forever.

Something about the way she sang was so precious, like she was already mourning the fact that she would never again sing for the same crowd. She hardly spoke to the audience but when she did, the crowd went crazy, making her smile, which only made the crowd go even wilder.

And just for the record, she is as beautiful as she looks in pictures and if you think her voice sounds nice on your record player, you might just tear up when you hear her live.

It was as if the audience got a rush every time she started a new song and the notes she hit were a release for us.

I wish I could’ve watched Lana perform until the sun rose the next morning or jump on her tour bus and go with her on her Endless Summer Tour, but as the Rolling Stones said, “you can’t always get what you want.” I got to watch the gorgeous, talented, and completely unprecedented Lana Del Rey perform for one night and after all that my post-concert depression is hitting me hard.

Lana has a way of stealing your heart. But in a way that seems likes she’s doing you a favour. I don’t mind though, she can steal my heart anytime she so pleases.
