This "genuinly adventurous" content creator does anything but play it safe.
Alex Difabio, an original and genuine content creator and all around rad person, allows Mimp
Mag a closer look into her life.
A college student with the drive and passion to put herself out there for the whole world to see is definitely someone to take a closer look at. She finds her inspiration to create through music, which she finds “incredibly transformative.” Each and every playlist she makes has to “cater to a certain mood” and she is able to find inspiration in either the lyrics or melody.
When asked to define her channel in a few words, Alex states, “genuine and adventurous.”
Her videos proove it too! With the eye catching visuals of her skillfully crafted fashion videos, her easygoing personality, and her fun and informative series called "Watch Listen Taste", which is filled with recommendations on all the things you wish you knew about sooner, you will most definitely become a loyal subscriber!
Because her Watch Listen Taste series is something so original and helpful, I ask what would be on her list of recommendations for the end of summer. She is so excited to explain a bit about her fresh idea. “I wanted to do something a little different than your typical monthly favorites. Since I am in Europe right now, I have been out exploring and taking advantage of technology a bit less than usual, but I do still have favorites.”
Below are her picks for the summer:
Watch : I watched The Dead Poets Society for the first time a few days ago and was blown away. If you haven't seen it yet, you're missing out.
Listen : I was recently in an Uber in Prague and a song called Stytsaman by Ivan Dorn came on the radio. It's in Czech, but boy is it a jam. I just wish it was on Spotify! Also, the new the bird and the bee album called Recreational Love is fantastic.
Taste : I just discovered I like oranges and sea bass. Super random, but my taste buds were very happy with both discoveries.
Since Alex is currently studying abroad in Europe, our team is interested in any advice she has to give to anyone looking to do the same. Her two words of wisdom are to “pack light and push yourself.”
She says she over packed and ended up completely regretting it.
Three things she couldn’t travel without include:
Her Burts Bees chapstick, water bottle, and camera.
“I think studying abroad is one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences a person can have in their lifetime.” She also urges anyone who plans to study abroad to go out and explore. “You cannot come to a foreign country and sit around. You may be super tired at the end of a long day of exploring, but the stories you will be able to tell at the end of your trip will make those sleepless nights a lot more rewarding.”
Her last piece of advice is “to seize each moment your temporary home provides.” And we totally agree!
A huge part of venturing anywhere outside of your comfort zone, is all the memories you make with the people and places you visit. A place Alex never plans to forget is “the view over the Vltava River. When you see the castle surrounded by tiny scattered houses, you will never see anything more beautiful again (except, maybe, the same exact view at night).”
Alex's thinks back on her favorite memory involving friends and traveling to the city limits of Prague, where they found an abandoned high dive. “We were surrounded by a handful of locals, drank wine, swam, and took photographs all day. It was so relaxing and refreshing to be surrounded solely by trees and a large body of water. Definitely one of the best days I've had, not only on this trip, but of my life.”
Alex made up a playlist for her flight with some of her favorite bands (which just happen to be ours as well!), including Foo Fighters, Foster the People, Ellie Goulding, HAIM, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and alt-J, to keep her “pumped on the plane.”
She tells us her bucket list is “so full I can barely hold it.” She plans to keep checking things off her list. Here at MimpMag, we see that as a good thing!
For Alex, a creative and self-aware individual, life is all about showing off her personality in a way that encompasses her sense of self in a way that isn’t playing it safe. As a content creator, she pushes herself to create positive progression. In her words, “After all, playing it safe is rarely as rewarding as putting yourself out there.”
